Hours after witnessing their father being shot with a taser gun, Lex Wotton’s traumatised children were ordered to sit down by a detective.

“What did your father do?” Detective Sergeant Darren Robinson asked after conducting an early morning raid on their home.

Mr Wotton’s partner, Cecilia Wotton, gave the evidence at a groundbreaking trial to determine whether alleged police failures after the 2004 death of Mulrunji Doomadgee on the Palm Island watchhouse floor were racially discriminatory.
