Levitt Robinson Solicitors is representing consumer advocate Michael Fraser in defamation proceedings brought against him by Australia’s largest bank.

As reported by Richard Gluyas in the Australian newspaper this morning, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) is funding an action in defamation being brought against Mr Fraser by Brendan French, the head of customer relations for the CBA group of companies.

Mr Gluyas quoted Levitt Robinson Principal Stewart Levitt as follows:

Stewart Levitt, of law firm Levitt Robinson Solicitors, on behalf of Mr Fraser, said the defamation action was a David and Goliath battle.

“It’s hard to understand why anyone, knowing Michael Fraser as a person, would target him,” Mr Levitt said.

“He’s a person of no financial standing, and this is really a microcosm of what’s alleged against banks in relation to their customers: they’re using their wealth and position to litigate a matter against a young man who is an enthusiastic consumer advocate who has no assets whatsoever.”
